Viscoelastic coatings operate on a "cold-flow" fluidic polymer principle. The core compound, based on highly viscous polyisobutylene (PIB), never cures or undergoes cross-linking. As a result, it retains a permanent, liquid-like surface tension that allows it to flow directly into the micro-cavities of steel substrates. This self-healing mechanism repairs micro-fractures, seals moisture out, and provides zero cathodic disbondment over a long operational lifespan.
CYCT's heat-shrinkable sleeves feature a radiation cross-linked high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) backing, coupled with a robust copolymer hot-melt adhesive layer. When heated, the backing shrinks to conform to girth welds, while the hot melt flows to create a dense mechanical seal against water intrusion, soil displacement, and cathodic delamination. These sleeves are rated for temperatures up to 85°C.
