Aluminum foil viscoelastic anti-corrosion tape represents the pinnacle of modern cold-applied polymer protection. The core adhesive layer consists of a compound based on low-density, non-crystalline, non-crosslinked polyolefin polymers. Because of its unique molecular architecture, the viscoelastic compound exhibits cold flow and self-healing properties. Over time, the tape actively flows into the micro-cavities, surface profile valleys, and anchor patterns of the steel substrate, achieving 100% surface contact without voiding.
Unlike traditional mastic tapes or heat shrinkable sleeves, viscoelastic materials do not cure or harden. They maintain liquid-like wetting capabilities combined with solid-like cohesion permanently, remaining flexible at temperatures as low as -45°C and stable up to 95°C.
