Weather-Resistant PE Outer Tape Cold Applied Tape for Oil & Gas Pipeline Corrosion Protection
System Description
The outer tape series is a Cold applied tape coating system for corrosion protection of Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, and Waste Water underground or overhead pipelines. The outer-layer tape backing shall be compounded so that it will be resistant to outdoor weathering.
The outer-layer tape shall be applied after the inner-layer tape by hand or with a wrapping machine.
PE Outer Tape Structure
The specification of the tape consists of two layers: the adhesive layer and the film backing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the structural composition of the PE Outer Tape?
The PE Outer Tape consists of a two-layer structure: an adhesive layer made of butyl rubber and a film backing made from a special blend of stabilized polyethylene.
How is the outer-layer tape applied to pipelines?
The outer-layer tape is cold-applied after the inner-layer tape has been installed. It can be wrapped around the pipeline manually by hand or using a wrapping machine.
What is the application temperature range for this cold applied tape?
The tape can be applied across a wide temperature range of -40°F to 140°F (-40°C to +60°C).
Does this outer tape meet international pipeline coating standards?
Yes, the PE Outer Tape meets the ASTM D 1000 testing and performance standard for electrical and mechanical properties of pressure-sensitive tapes.
Can the tape withstand long-term outdoor weather exposure?
Yes. The outer-layer tape backing is specifically compounded to offer excellent resistance to outdoor weathering and UV radiation, making it suitable for both underground and overhead pipeline systems.
Are custom sizes available for specific project needs?
Yes, custom-made options for width (ranging from 50 to 800 mm) and length (ranging from 30 to 240 m) are available to meet unique project specifications.
