Engineered solutions for pipeline field joint integrity, heavy-duty anti-corrosion, and complex environments.
Modern steel pipeline infrastructure is the backbone of global energy and fluid transmission. While the main pipeline body receives high-grade mill-applied coatings such as Three-Layer Polyethylene (3LPE) or Three-Layer Polypropylene (3LPP), the field girth welds—known as the Field Joint—remain the most vulnerable areas to environmental corrosion and mechanical failures. Achieving seamless, high-performance field joint protection is vital to avoiding catastrophic failures and minimizing pipeline lifecycle operation costs.
As a leading OEM Field Joint Heat Shrink Sleeve Supplier, we understand that field joint heat shrink sleeves (HTS) must serve as a continuous, impenetrable extension of the main line coating. They must withstand aggressive soil stress, water permeation, cathodic disbondment, mechanical impacts during construction, and long-term operating thermal loads. Investing in premium field joint technology ensures uninterrupted pipeline service and strict environmental compliance.
A reliable Heat Shrink Sleeve system must meet strict global standards:
Over two decades of engineering breakthrough, continuous R&D, and reliable supply to global infrastructure.
CYCT New Materials Company Limited (CYCT) is a state-level high-tech enterprise integrating R&D, production, and sales of pipeline corrosion protection materials, buried pipeline detection services, and pipeline coating field application services into a unified framework.
CYCT has dedicated its focus to the R&D, production, and sales of pipeline corrosion protection materials for decades. Through strategic partnerships with industry-leading R&D institutes, such as the CNPC Pipeline Science Research Institute, CYCT delivers varied technical services to in-service pipelines. These include buried pipeline detection, custom design schemes, cathodic protection setups, pipeline rehabilitation projects, and integrated security solutions.
CYCT owns leading testing and R&D capabilities, supported by a professional R&D team and a national CNAS-accredited laboratory. This laboratory enables us to conduct rigorous, standard-compliant tests on peel strength, lap shear, thermal aging, and cathodic disbondment, guaranteeing our position as a trustworthy supplier for large-scale international gas and oil projects.
CYCT has been a stable supplier of field joint coatings for years in major corporations, including PetroChina, Sinopec, PipeChina, and various local pipeline operators, securing a commanding domestic market share. We have successfully expanded our line to introduce specialty anti-corrosion products such as:
How our cross-linked polymers and functional adhesives form impenetrable pipeline seals.
A Heat Shrinkable Sleeve (HTS) works on the principle of elastic memory. A radiation cross-linked high-density polyethylene (HDPE) backing is extruded, crosslinked using an electron beam accelerator, and then stretched under heat. During site installation, heating makes the sleeve shrink back to its original dimensions, wrapping tightly around the pipe girth weld area.
To establish a durable protection layer, a three-layer sleeve system is recommended. The process starts by applying a liquid, solvent-free epoxy primer onto the sandblasted steel surface. The sleeve is then wrapped around the wet primer, and heated with a propane torch. The copolymer adhesive melts, flows into the steel micro-cavities, and chemically crosslinks with the epoxy primer. This structure combines the high chemical resistance of epoxy with the physical toughness of polyethylene, offering superior performance compared to single-layer alternatives.

Customized corrosion protection setups optimized for extreme operating conditions globally.
Traditional sleeves can slip or tear during pipeline pulling operations. CYCT designs and supplies Fiberglass Reinforced Sleeves (FRDS) and photo-curing shields specifically for HDD. The integrated fiberglass layer adds exceptional shear and impact resistance, ensuring the coating survives passage through rocky drill holes.
Offshore subsea pipelines demand reliable resistance to moisture permeation and hydrostatic pressure. Our CYG Changtong GRF Moisture Curing Shield provides heavy-duty mechanical protection in marine splash zones and subsea environments, maintaining its structural integrity against salt water and tidal forces.
With modern oil extraction working at higher temperatures, field joints must withstand continuous heat. CYCT’s Polypropylene Heat Shrink Sleeve (HTPP) systems are rated for continuous service up to 110°C. They prevent adhesive softening, ensuring long-term bond stability and structural performance.
We provide comprehensive customization support to fit international project criteria:
Procuring field joint coatings for international oil, gas, and water networks requires strict adherence to project specifications and rigorous testing criteria. Local regulators and international engineering houses (such as Shell, BP, and Petronas) require certified compliance before approving field materials.
At CYCT, we ease the procurement process by aligning our manufacturing with international benchmarks like ISO 21809-3, EN 12068, and NACE SP0169. Our OEM division works directly with EPC contractors, pipeline asset owners, and distributors, supplying custom product lengths, specialized thicknesses, and tailored packaging configurations. This supports efficient site installation and simplifies logistics, helping prevent project delays.
Pioneering the next generation of smart coatings and eco-friendly pipeline protections.
Traditional primers often contain high VOCs. We are actively engineering 100% solids, solvent-free epoxy primers with zero VOC emissions. These materials reduce environmental impact, lower carbon footprints, and improve safety conditions for on-site field joint coating applicators.
Manual flame heating can sometimes lead to uneven installation quality. The industry is shifting toward automated induction preheating and automated heat-shrink wrapping. CYCT develops custom sleeve formulations compatible with fast induction heating, reducing installation times to minutes.
Future pipelines will utilize coatings that can communicate structural integrity. We are researching coatings integrated with conductive layers or fiber optics, enabling operators to monitor stress levels, soil shifts, and water intrusion at field joints in real-time.
Verified compliance to international quality, environmental, and pipeline engineering standards.
