Construction
PE copolymer-based adhesive.
Hot MELT STICK is a heat-sensitive, PE copolymer-based stick used for small superficial damage (scratches) to PE-coatings where the damage does not extend to the bare metal. Installation is done with a standard gas torch. After eliminating all sharp edges, cleaning and preheating, the Hot MELT STICK is heated above the damaged area until becoming glossy. No filler is required. Molten adhesive shall be applied onto all scratch defects to achieve intimate contact with the substrate.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Hot MELT STICK used for?
The Hot MELT STICK is designed for repairing small, superficial damage and scratches on PE-coatings where the damage does not extend down to the bare metal. It provides a highly efficient and economical repair solution.
What equipment is needed for installation?
Only a standard gas torch is required for application. No heavy machinery or special tools are needed, making the field repair process cost-effective and straightforward.
What is the softening point of the Hot MELT STICK?
The softening point of the stick is 90ºC (194ºF) based on the ASTM E-28 testing standard, allowing it to melt and flow smoothly during application.
Can the product dimensions be customized?
Yes, alternative sizes can be supplied to meet specific project specifications. The standard dimensions are 12.0 in. (305 mm) in length and 1.0 in. (25 mm) in diameter.
What are the main benefits of using Hot MELT STICK?
Key benefits include high shear resistance, superb adhesion to standard mill-applied PE coatings, quick setup, minimal tool requirements, and cost-effective overall performance.
Is any filler required during application?
No, filler is not required. The Hot MELT STICK is heated over the clean preheated surface until glossy, filling in scratch defects directly to create a solid bond with the substrate.
