Premium specialized products designed to protect transmission pipeline systems from harsh soil stresses and corrosive environments in Turkey.
Istanbul stands as a unique, transcontinental bridge connecting Europe and Asia. Because of this strategic geographical position, it has evolved into a key energy transit hub for major international natural gas networks, municipal clean water grids, and petrochemical industrial corridors. Heavy-duty networks, such as the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and various local distribution projects managed by gas distributors like İGDAŞ, rely on top-grade, long-lasting pipeline integrity systems. Maintaining these lines is critical to keeping regional industries running smoothly.
However, protecting pipelines in the Istanbul region poses serious geological and mechanical challenges. The local environment features high-salinity soils along coastal zones, variable groundwater tables, and active seismic movements across the Marmara region. These conditions can accelerate cathodic disbondment and cause severe mechanical stress. Traditional pipeline wraps often struggle with the soil shear and thermal cycling of these areas, which is why engineering teams rely on specialized heat shrinkable sleeves and viscoelastic coatings. By preventing moisture ingress and resisting soil movement, these materials provide reliable, long-term protection.
High-salinity seawater and sand abrasion demand heavy-wall GRP UV-curing sleeves for HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) marine crossings.
Tuzla and Ambarlı industrial zones require high-temperature resistance and chemical protection for oil terminal pipelines.
Underground municipal water mains require flexible, self-healing viscoelastic wraps that adapt to traffic vibrations and ground settlement.
Modern anti-corrosion engineering relies on advanced polymer chemistry to stop structural decay. Heat shrinkable tapes and sleeves feature a cross-linked high-density polyethylene (HDPE) backing coated with a thick layer of copolymer adhesive. During installation, heat is applied to shrink the backing, while the adhesive melts and flows into surface irregularities. This creates a tight, water-resistant seal that resists cathodic disbondment and mechanical abrasion.
Viscoelastic technology works on a different principle. Made from non-crystalline, low-viscosity polyisobutylene, these materials behave like a highly viscous liquid with solid-like elasticity. They cold-flow to thoroughly wet the steel surface, filling in microscopic profile details. Because the material remains permanently viscous, it is self-healing, automatically resealing small punctures or scratches. Viscoelastic tapes are also non-shielding to Cathodic Protection (CP) currents, allowing CP systems to protect the pipe even if the coating becomes damaged.
| Coating Characteristic | Heat Shrinkable Sleeves (PE/PP) | Viscoelastic Systems (PIB) |

Founded in 2000, CYCT New Materials has spent decades refining the production of pipeline corrosion protection materials. Our modern facility features automated compounding extrusion lines, radiation cross-linking machinery, and a national CNAS-accredited laboratory. By keeping manufacturing operations under one roof, we maintain tight control over quality while keeping costs competitive for global buyers in regions like Istanbul.
We work closely with research groups like the CNPC Pipeline Science Research Institute to continually improve our coatings. This helps us offer tailored solutions for operational pipelines, including pipeline inspection, design planning, cathodic protection, and comprehensive rehabilitation support. As an council member of the Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection (CSCP) and an active member of AMPP, CYCT manufactures all products to meet strict international standards, including ISO 21809-3, EN 12068, and AWWA C214.
International pipeline operators and EPC contractors focus on minimizing project risk and ensuring long-term reliability. Procurement departments look for suppliers with a proven track record, clear third-party testing credentials, and consistent manufacturing quality. Because pipeline construction involves tight schedules, suppliers must be able to deliver high-quality materials on time and in large volumes.
As energy projects become more complex, there is growing demand for coatings that can handle higher operating temperatures (up to 120°C for 3LPP systems) and challenging installations, like directional drilling beneath waterways. CYCT's certified product line offers reliable, long-term protection, helping pipeline operators protect their investments and reduce maintenance costs over time.

Heat shrinkable sleeves use a hot-melt adhesive that requires pre-heating the steel to 60°C–100°C to form a bond. Viscoelastic tapes are cold-applied and require minimal surface pre-heating. They flow to wet the steel surface under ambient pressure, offering a self-healing barrier that does not shield cathodic protection currents.
Our GRP sleeves are made from glass fiber reinforced plastics that cure under UV light. They form a tough, impact-resistant outer layer over the corrosion coating, protecting it from shear, scrapes, and abrasions during directional drilling (HDD) pulls beneath crossings like the Bosphorus.
Yes. Viscoelastic coatings are highly resistant to water vapor transmission and salt-spray ingress. Because they seal tightly and have a self-healing molecular structure, they prevent corrosive saltwater from reaching the steel surface, even under damp conditions.
Our CNAS accreditation means our testing laboratory meets ISO/IEC 17025 standards. This ensures that every production batch of PE/PP tapes, viscoelastic putties, and GRP sleeves is tested for peel strength, shear resistance, and heat aging, providing reliable performance for our customers.
Yes, viscoelastic coatings can be applied on surfaces cleaned to ISO 8501-1 St 2 or St 3 standards (wire brushed). They do not require the near-white metal blast cleaning (Sa 2.5) needed for traditional liquid epoxy or heat shrink coatings, saving time on field repairs.
CYCT products comply with EN 12068, ISO 21809-3, and AWWA C214. We are an approved supplier for major energy operators, including PetroChina, Sinopec, and Indian Oil, and hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management system certifications.
