China Weld Joint Heat Shrink Sleeve Suppliers & Factory

Pipeline Integrity & Field Joint Corrosion Vulnerabilities

Long-distance pipelines traversing continents, extreme marine beds, and high-temperature geo-thermal terrains are the lifelines of the world's energy supply. However, the integrity of these networks is only as strong as their weakest links—specifically, the field weld joints. While factory-applied coatings (such as 3LPE or 3LPP) provide robust body protection, the welding of pipes in the field leaves bare steel joints vulnerable to rapid atmospheric and galvanic corrosion.

As a leading China Weld Joint Heat Shrink Sleeve Factory, CYCT delivers engineered solutions that restore continuous protection over these girth weld zones. Using high-performance irradiated cross-linked polyolefin backings paired with aggressive shear-resistant adhesives, our products prevent moisture ingress, resist soil stress, and withstand Cathodic Disbondment (CD).

Global Procurement Demands

EPC contracting companies, pipeline operators, and utility authorities face severe challenges: strict compliance with ISO 21809-3 standards, prompt logistics to remote sites, and long-term cost optimization.

CYCT's direct-factory supply model addresses these requirements by integrating design, rigorous raw material inspection, state-of-the-art radiation cross-linking machinery, and localized global support networks.

Company Profile

CYCT · Founded In 2000

CYCT New Materials Company Limited (for short, CYCT) is a state-level high-tech enterprise integrating R&D, production, and sales of pipeline corrosion protection materials, as well as buried pipeline detection services and pipeline coating field application services.

For decades, CYCT has dedicated itself to the R&D and production of pipeline corrosion protection systems. Partnering with elite institutes like the CNPC Pipeline Science Research Institute, CYCT is capable of offering in-service pipelines comprehensive design schemes, cathodic protection, rehabilitation projects, and integrated security solutions.

CNAS

Equipped with a professional research team and a national CNAS-accredited laboratory for elite material testing.

Macro Industry Solutions & Technology Roadmap

Understanding structural layers and cross-linking chemistry is vital when selecting corrosion protection for critical pipeline infrastructure.

3-Layer Systems (3LPE/3LPP)

Consists of a liquid epoxy primer layer on the steel pipe, followed by a copolymeric hot melt adhesive interlayer, and topped with a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) backing. Protects joints in high soil stress and extreme temperatures.

Radiation Cross-linking

Our PE and PP backings are modified via high-energy electron beam radiation. This creates covalent cross-link bonds between polymer chains, providing the "elastic memory" effect for quick heat recovery and shrinking.

Specialty Solutions

From Viscoelastic Tape Systems with cold-flow self-healing capabilities to Photo-Curing GRP Protective Sleeves engineered for HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) trenchless pull-back protection.

Future Technological Outlook & Advanced Research

As pipelines face higher temperature demands and eco-friendly standards, our technical roadmap focuses on three main developments:

Non-Toxic & Solvent-Free Systems

Traditional primers with high VOCs are being replaced by eco-friendly formulations. CYCT’s solvent-free high-temperature liquid epoxy primers provide strong adhesion without emitting hazardous organic gases, conforming to strict EU environmental laws.

High-Performance Polymer Backings

With shallow offshore wells and heavy oil production requiring high-temperature operations, we are developing cross-linked polypropylene (PP) sleeves that handle continuous service temperatures up to 110°C to 120°C, maintaining strong shear resistance.

Viscoelastic Self-Healing Tapes

Our viscoelastic solutions are designed for immediate self-repair. If minor mechanical damage occurs during pipeline handling, the cold-flowing viscoelastic compounds flow into the defect, preventing air and water from reaching the steel surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Access technical answers about pipeline field joint coating engineering, installation methods, and quality standards.

1. What is a Weld Joint Heat Shrink Sleeve (HSS)?
A weld joint heat shrink sleeve is a wrap-around or tubular protective system designed to safeguard the girth weld area of steel pipelines. It features a radiation cross-linked polyolefin backing (PE or PP) coated with a protective adhesive (mastic or copolymer hot-melt). When heat is applied, the backing shrinks, conforming tightly to the pipe joint and melting the adhesive to seal the substrate.
2. What is the difference between PE and PP Heat Shrinkable Sleeves?
PE (Polyethylene) sleeves are commonly used for pipelines with operating temperatures up to 60°C or 80°C (like our FRDP sleeve). PP (Polypropylene) sleeves are designed for high-stress, high-temperature environments, resisting temperatures up to 110°C or higher. PP offers superior resistance to mechanical soil stress, shear forces, and indentation, matching the requirements of 3LPP factory-coated lines.
3. Why is an Epoxy Primer used with a 3-Layer Heat Shrink Sleeve system?
The liquid epoxy primer is applied directly to the sandblasted steel surface (Sa 2.5) to provide corrosion resistance and cathodic disbondment protection. The copolymer adhesive of the heat shrink sleeve bonds to the wet or partially cured epoxy, forming a solid 3-layer protective coating similar to the factory-applied 3LPE/3LPP system.
4. What quality certifications does CYCT hold?
CYCT is a state-level high-tech enterprise with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications. We maintain a CNAS-accredited national laboratory for strict quality testing and are active members of the Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection (CSCP) and China Association of Petroleum Engineering Construction (CAPEC).
5. How does a Photo-Curing GRP sleeve protect pipelines during HDD installation?
In trenchless Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), the field joint coating undergoes high abrasion from rocks and soil. A Photo-Curing GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) sleeve is wrapped over the primary heat shrink sleeve. When exposed to UV light, it cures into a tough outer shell that protects the primary anti-corrosion coating from physical damage during the pull-back process.
6. What is the shelf life and storage conditions for these sleeves?
To prevent premature heat shrinking or adhesive degradation, heat shrinkable sleeves must be stored in a dry, ventilated warehouse, away from direct sunlight, at temperatures below 35°C (95°F). Kept under these conditions, the shelf life of CYCT products is at least 2 to 3 years from the date of manufacture.
