Product Description

Features & Benefits

The viscoelastic anticorrosion coating series includes viscoelastic anticorrosion tape, viscoelastic anticorrosion paste, and polymeric outer protective tape. They are suitable for the anticorrosion of irregular components such as pipeline valves, flanges and tees; the joint coating of pipelines in water networks and tunnels; the repair of anticorrosion coatings and joint coatings for in-service pipelines; and other special fields.

Application in Valve Corrosion Protection

Viscoelastic coating is used to safeguard valves against corrosion. Typically, viscoelastic anticorrosive tape and viscoelastic anticorrosive paste are used together. The specific operation procedure is as follows:

  • 1Fill the valve with viscoelastic paste.
  • 2Manually fill the grooves and bolts of flange parts with the viscoelastic paste.
  • 3Wrap the valve surface with viscoelastic anticorrosive tape.
  • 4If the valve is to be buried, it is also suggested to wrap cold-applied PE/PP/PVC tape on the outer surface as an additional protective layer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q What is viscoelastic anticorrosion coating and what does it consist of?
The viscoelastic anticorrosion coating series consists of three main components: viscoelastic anticorrosion tape, viscoelastic anticorrosion paste, and polymeric outer protective tape. Together, they provide a complete corrosion protection system suitable for irregular pipeline components such as valves, flanges, and tees.
Q What are the main applications of viscoelastic anticorrosion coatings?
These coatings are primarily used for the anticorrosion of irregular pipeline components (valves, flanges, tees), joint coating of pipelines in water networks and tunnels, repair of existing anticorrosion coatings and joint coatings for in-service pipelines, and other special engineering fields requiring durable corrosion protection.
Q How is viscoelastic coating applied to protect buried valves?
For buried valves, the process involves four steps: first, filling the valve cavities with viscoelastic paste; second, manually filling all grooves and bolt areas of flange parts with the paste; third, wrapping the entire valve surface with viscoelastic anticorrosive tape; and finally, applying an additional layer of cold-applied PE/PP/PVC tape on the outer surface as extra protection against underground conditions.
Q What is the self-healing capability of the viscoelastic coating?
The viscoelastic coating features a self-healing property verified per ISO 21809-3. Any minor damage or holiday in the coating self-heals in less than 24 hours at 23 ℃. This self-healing capability also applies under cathodic disbondment conditions at both 23 ℃ and 70 ℃, resulting in 0 mm disbondment — ensuring long-term pipeline integrity.
Q Can viscoelastic coating be used in extreme temperature environments?
Yes. The coating is engineered for a wide temperature range. It maintains flexibility at low temperatures down to -30 ℃ with no separation, tears, or cracks (EN 12068), and has a glass transition temperature of -20 ℃ minimum. It also shows no evidence of crystallization, making it reliable in cold climates and underground installations.
Q What electrical insulation performance does the viscoelastic coating provide?
The viscoelastic coating provides excellent electrical insulation with an electrical resistance greater than 10¹⁵ ohm/cm (EN 12068). It also passes holiday detection testing at 5 KV/mm (max. 25 KV) with no holidays detected, confirming a continuous, pinhole-free barrier that prevents electrochemical corrosion on buried or submerged pipeline components.
